Just a short note on a small midway at this year's oktoberfest. Dropped by for about 45 min. to see what Kissel's brought:
They had:
Note on pricing: Normaly, this is a pay-per-ride show, however they ran an afternoon special (Noon-5PM) offering POP's for $7.
They offered the shortest kamikazee ride I have been on. After getting up to speed you went through 2 forwards loops/ stopped midair/ 2 backwards loops/ slow down, that's it. I rode twice only because I had to get my POP's worth in a short time. Still one of my favorite carnival rides. While riding I thought about the death on one of these rides at the IL. State Fair. How is this possible? After the ride stopped, but before the restraints were released, I tried everything to try to get out, there is just no way to do it.
The ride sensation. I rode my first Gravitron at this same show a few years ago, the ride still packs a punch, I like rotors and this is the closest you come in the local area. Had good music ("Bob Seiger's Old Time Rock and Roll") while the ride was operated. (Maury Povich said someone flew out of one of these, too, that's quite a feat since they close the door before the ride starts)
Well, that's it, I did not see anything else of note on the Midway. Good show to go to if you're at the festival, but don't go out of your way for it.
